3RD DISTRICT LEGION BASEBALL HAS FOUR DIVISIONS:

1)  Senior Legion Division One 19U

2)  Senior Legion Division Two 19U

3)  Junior Legion Division One 17U

4)  Junior Legion Division Two 17U

SENIOR LEGION BASEBALL 19U

3rd District American Legion Baseball teams are geographically located in Southeast Central Minnesota.  Senior Division Teams are divided into two divisions by school enrollment. Division One enrollment is 40l - 3600 and Division Two enrollment is 400 and below. Our Senior 19U Apple Valley team participates in Division One

3RD DISTRICT DIVISION ONE 19U 

The 3rd District Division One includes teams from these communities:

APPLE VALLEY,  BURNSVILLE, CHANHASSEN, CHASKA,  EAGAN, EAST RIDGE, EASTVIEW, FARMINGTON,  FARIBAULT, FOREST LAKE,  HASTINGS,  HUTCHINSON,  INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, JORDAN,   LAKEVILLE NORTH,  LAKEVILLE SOUTH,  MAHTOMEDI,  NEW PRAGUE,  NORTHFIELD,

OAKDALE, PRIOR LAKE,  RED WING,  ROSEMOUNT,  ST PAUL PARK,  ST PETER,  SHAKOPEE,  SOUTH ST PAUL,  STILLWATER,   WACONIA, WEST ST PAUL,  WOODBURY 

3RD DISTRICT DIVISION ONE - POST SEASON PLAYOFFS

After regular season play, all Division One 3rd District teams participate in one of 15 Sub-State Tournaments held across the state.  Those Sub-State Tournament Champions combine with a HOST team to play a 16 team Double Elimination State Tournament. The State Champion and Runnerup advance to an eight team National American Legion Regional Tournament. Those eight Regional Tournament Champions advance to the American Legion World Series held each year in Shelby, NC the 2nd week of August.

Apple Valley has been assigned to Division One Sub-State 5

Teams in this Sub-State beside Apple Valley are:

Burnsville, Farmington, Lakeville North, New Prague, Northfield, 

Rosemount, Woodbury Blue  

3rd DISTRICT DIVISION TWO 19U

3rd District DIVISION TWO include teams from these communities:

CANNON FALLS , HOLY FAMILY, KENYON-WANAMINGO,  LESUEUR-HENDERSON,  LECENTER,  LESTER PRAIRIE,  MEDFORD,  MONTGOMERY,  NORWOOD-YOUNG AMERICA,  PLATO,  PINE ISLAND,  RANDOLPH,  SIBLEY EAST,  WATERTOWN, WATERVILLE-ELYSIAN-MORRISTOWN

3rd DISTRICT DIVISION TWO - POST SEASON PLAYOFFS: 

After regular season play, all Division Two 3rd District teams participate in one of 7 Sub-State Tournaments held across the state.  Those Sub-State Tournament Champions combine with a HOST team to play an 8 team Single Elimination State Tournament. Currently there is no further national play for this Division.

JUNIOR LEGION BASEBALL 17U

Legion Baseball offers Junior Legion Baseball 17U and this program is also divided by enrollment into Division One and Division Two. Apple Valley participates in Division One Juniors.

In 2024 Apple Valley will compete in the American Division for Junior 17U play.  League opponents are Bloomington Blue, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville North, Mankato and Rosemount. 

Similar to the Senior Division Two Post Season Play Offs, the Junior 17U program holds 7 Sub-State Tournaments across Minnesota. Those Sub-State Champions combine with a HOST team to play an 8 team Single Elimination State Tournament.  State Champion has option to participate in private sponsored Regional Tournament in Iowa. Currently there is no National Jr Legion Regional Tournament format for Junior Legion baseball.

The Junior 17U Sub-State E Tournament will be played in Rosemount. Participating teams are Apple Valley, Eastview Silver, Farmington 2, Hermantown, Rosemount, Stillwater, Tri City Red, West Duluth and White Bear Lake.

Sub-State E Champion will advance to Junior State Tournament held this year in Bloomington.
